Red Lion, East Haddon Circular
This is a lovely walk mainly across open farmland with spectacular views. If you hear a sound it’s likely to be a shrill call from a buzzard, but apart from that it’s so peaceful
In winter months it may get boggy, but we walked in March & most of the route was fine & only need a bit of ‘boot-banging’ at the end
We start in the lovely village of East Haddon. East Haddon’s probably most famous as home to the show gardens of Haddonstone, a company formed & based in the village since 1971.
Distance: 5.5 miles (8.85km)
Time to walk: Between 2 – 2.5 hours
A Wave to Diana…
This walk covers a beautiful area of Northamptonshire & includes the Spencer Family Estate of Althorp with its links to Princess Diana. Indeed we will get a great view of Althorp House on this walk
The two villages the walk visits are both stunning & there are benches to sit & chill, plus a couple of terrific pubs if you fancy a snack or just something to drink.
Distance: 4.4 miles (7.1km)
Time to walk: 2 hours
Ravensthorpe Circular: Water & wildlife
Ravensthorpe is the oldest of the County’s reservoirs, being created in Victorian times to supply water to Northampton
It covers almost 100 acres & is considered one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in Europe
Our route basically covers the shoreline path &, as this is a prolific fly-fishing venue, we need to be careful of fishermen’s backcasts
With that in mind it’s a gorgeous sunny late April afternoon so let’s go explore this short walk…
Distance: 2 miles (3.22km)
Time to walk: 45 minutes
